Focus
UNLAD’s primary focus is on the Baruyan Elementary School (BES), a public elementary school of 400+ students in the underserved farm village of Baruyan in the city of Calapan, province of Oriental Mindoro, the Philippines. To optimize their work and impact by being on-site, Terry and Allen will reside in Baruyan part of the year and actively participate in the school’s life.
UNLAD will support the BES in providing:
Access to basic elementary education: scholarships to fund school supplies, uniforms, daily allowance.
Access to after-school programs.
Access to physical, mental and financial health and wellness programs.
We will also respond to opportunities to support the need of the underserved youth in Charlottesville, Virginia, where Terry and Allen will reside the rest of the year.
Our work in the Philippines and the USA will be sustained by opportunities to collaborate with the school administrators and partner organizations, including the Ayala Foundation and Save the Children, Philippines; as well as the public and private schools and in Charlottesville, VA.
In our Newsletters, we share how- through even uncertain times - we continue to have sustain our commitment to our mission, and how we continue to create opportunities for our underserved youth in the Philippines and the USA, to gain direct access to education.
